DLAW is a scholarship organization for deaf people around the world who want to study law in their home countries. DLAW has awarded scholarships throughout the world.
DLAW is looking for an Executive Director. This position is remote and DLAW will consider applicants from anywhere in the world. The position is part-time for 10-20 hours per week and offers flexible hours. The salary will depend on the experience of the candidate.
The Executive Director will report to the Board of DLAW and will be responsible for several tasks, including:
- Soliciting and evaluating applications from individuals who want to become lawyers.
- Monitoring the progress of current scholars, including reviewing scholarship requests and expenses, and ensuring that scholars are meeting scholarship requirements and expectations.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to scholars.
- Monitoring and maintaining social media and website presence (including creation of content).
- Identifying and pursuing sources of funding, including applying for grants, organizing fundraisers, and cultivating individual and organizational donors.
Desired Skill Set
- Fluency in International Sign or American Sign Language, and ability to communicate with individuals who use other sign languages.
- Fluency in written English is required. Additional languages are desirable.
- Familiarity with basic concepts of disability law.
- Experience with organizational fundraising, managing budgets, and making resource allocation decisions.
